The Blong opened his eyes. That dream was odd. He couldn’t remember it, only some parts. But somehow, it left him feeling very melancholic. And somehow, he felt like he lived a very familiar experience. He opened the blinds and the window. The moon was full and shining so much that it illuminated the sky. He was drawn to it. Always had. Full moons usually made him feel very melancholic, sometimes unsettled and restless. Tonight wasn’t any different. The air was fresh, yet not cold. He decided to get outside.

He walked there for a while, aimlessly roaming the deserted streets and the silent parks, avoiding the occasional foxes passing around. After a while, he found himself on a park bench up a hill. He looked up. The moon was behind him. But he saw something else. A single star whose light was strong enough to overcome that of the moon. Once again, something felt familiar. He looked at it with intensifying curiosity. And suddenly, he remembered.

That day, twelve years ago, when he made a promise to that same star. He smiled at it like one would to an old friend. He felt strangely content and comfortable. He reminisced on that peculiar night. It was a few days after his grandmother died. She was the last of his grandparents, and when she left, he realised he didn’t even know her. He always…
