Promise to a Star
The night was beautiful, and the sky was so clear that many stars could be seen.
It was one of those nights where melancholy lurks around every corner. In the darkness, the senses sharpen, the perception of the world increases, an immense excitement seizes the mind, and like a newfound strength that makes great things possible, the impossible suddenly seems likely. Dreams seem to want to come to life. Everything becomes accessible to those who dare to try.
But that night, as all the other nights, the Blong was alone, terribly alone, and although all sorts of desires crossed his mind, he didn’t dare to act on any of them. He didn’t know why. The only thing that mattered to him was finding someone to rescue him from solitude. He wandered through the corridors and outside, searching for someone he knew, but the only people he saw were in groups and seemed so happy together that he couldn’t bring himself to disturb them. He resumed his path and walked aimlessly for hours, the sadness of being alone and anger at his shy nature gradually engulfing him.
Unintentionally, he found himself walking behind a group composed of the person so dear to him and two of their comrades. Still, he didn’t know whether he should speak to them, so he contented himself with walking at a distance behind them, which ultimately ruined…
