Shyness can be a crippling obstacle, preventing us from reaching our full potential and connecting with the world around us. I know. I’ve struggled with it for a good part of my life. However, it is possible to overcome it, and it starts with setting the right objectives and following a plan. In this article, I will share with you the steps that I used to beat it, and that allowed me to become a better version of myself.

Find a Big, Measurable Objective

I put this one first because it acts as a guide. Having a clear, substantial goal for yourself will act as a guidepost, helping you stay on track. It’s also essential to choose an objective that is both ambitious and measurable.

Don’t say “I want to be confident”. Even if that feels big for you, in the long run it might undermine you, because you’re telling yourself “I’m not confident at the moment”.

Rather, try something like “I want to be able to talk to 10 new person a week”. “I want to do a 5 minutes standup comedy gig in front of an audience”. Anything really, as long as it feels like a big stretch, and can be measured.

Find Small Objectives
